Fundamentals of Electric Circuits, 4 Edition free ebook download

Author(s): Charles K. Alexander
Date: 2008-09
Format: PDF
Language: English
ISBN10: 0073529559
Pages: 901
ISBN13: 9780073529554
BOOK DESCRIPTION:

New to This Edition
A course in circuit analysis is perhaps the ?rst exposure students have to electrical engineering. This is also a place where we can enhance
some of the skills that they will later need as they learn how to design.
In the fourth edition, we have included a very signi?cant new feature to help students enhance skills that are an important part of the design process. We call this new feature, design a problem. We know it is not possible to fully develop a student’s design skills in a fundamental course like circuits. To fully develop design skills a student needs a design experience normally reserved for their senior year. This does not mean that some of those skills cannot be developed and exercised in a circuits course. The text already included openended questions that help students use creativity, which is an important part of learning how to design. We already have some questions that are open desired to add much more into our text in this important
area and have developed an approach to do just that. When we develop problems for the student to solve our goal is that in solving the prob-
lem the student learn more about the theory and the problem solving process. Why not have the students design problems like we do? That
is exactly what we will do in each chapter. Within the normal problem set, we have a set of problems where we ask the student to design a
problem. This will have two very important results. The ?rst will be a better understanding of the basic theory and the second will be the
enhancement of some of the student’s basic design skills.
We are making effective use of the principle of learning by teaching. Essentially we all learn better when we teach a subject. Designing effective problems is a key part of the teaching process. Students should also be encouraged to develop problems, when appropriate, which have nice numbers and do not necessarily overemphasize complicated mathematical manipulations.
Additionally we have changed almost 40% of the Practice Problems with the idea to better re?ect more real component values and to help the student better understand the problem and have added 121 design a problem problems. We have also changed and added a total of 357 end-of-chapter problems (this number contains the new design a problem problems). This brings up a very important advantage to our textbook, we have a total of 2404 Examples, Practice Problems, Review Questions, and end-of-chapter problems!

Fundamentals of Microelectronics free ebook download

Author(s): Behzad Razavi
Date: 2006-05-19
Format: PDF
Language: English
ISBN10: 047007292X
Pages: 800
ISBN13: 9780470072929
BOOK DESCRIPTION:

Note: Although the book is complete (as per the table of contents given on the Wiley website), it lacks a table of contents and index.

To succeed in the practice of microelectronics in industry, students must develop the ability to think intuitively about circuits. They need to move beyond simply plugging and chugging numbers in equations and be prepared to face real design trade-offs.
Fundamentals of Microelectronics, Preview Edition helps students develop intuitive techniques so they can design and implement circuits not just analyze them. Using many real-word examples and applications, the text motivates the student to understand the importance of today's microelectronics.

Reviews

Summary: fantastic
Rating: 5

This is book is so clear and very easy to read and showed many hidden concepts to me , and its better than sedra/smith book ,if you want to read sedra's book, you've to read that book first , its very nice , i would give it 10 stars ! i will buy any book by this author , and i wish he writes another books.

Summary: Bipolar material eclipses MOS coverage.
Rating: 3

Dr. Razavi has written almost all of his books in a very beginner level easy to understand format. This book is pretty much the same. I like reading his books and I would say they rank very high amongst similar books. I liked this book a lot but I was expecting more MOS coverage than Bipolar. Also, since this book came out when technologies have changed considerably, I would have expected it to delve deeper into the small dimension design issues. I understand it deals with fundamentals but fundamentals have changed significantly over the past decade. This material duplicates that found in most other fundamental books albeit presented in a trademark "Razavi" method. I liked the exercises which have some challenging problems and design questions. In a future revision, I hope Dr. Razavi considers adding chapters on modern MOSFET circuit design challenges.

Summary: If I could give this book 10 stars, I would
Rating: 5

I have spent quite a bit of money on electrical engineering textbooks, and I have to say that out of the 50 or so that I have, that this book outdoes all of them by far. This author presents the material so clearly that most, if not all of your questions will be answered. The book is super cheap too! I dont get it! This book is priceless...my only gripe is that there are no answers in the back for the homework probs...

Summary: 5-star book
Rating: 5

I might not have a chance to attend Behzad Razavi lecture because i live far away (Malaysia) and no $$ to study in UCLA Electrical Engineering Department. I have read his book (Fundamental of Microelectronics) and i love this book very much, every single words and statement are written so clear and precise to let you understand. I believe he is a good lecturer.
If one day i became Electronics Designer, ASIC Designer, Analog / Digital Layout Designer, etc in big company, i sure treat him a great dinner / lunch.

Summary: Great Book from a Great Professor!!!
Rating: 5

I had the great privilege of taking both of Professor Razavi's undergraduate analog electronic circuits courses and as the first class here at UCLA to use this book, I HIGHLY recommend it!! It is much different than other texts (i.e. Sedra/Smith), in that when teaching many of the topics, the problem is first laid out and more of a design\elimination process is encouraged to solve it. Chapter 5 is on BJTs and forms a very well-rounded and solid basis from which to proceed onto MOSFET technology. End-of-chapter problems are challenging and Prof. Razavi does a great job of helping students develop intuition instead of just a plug-and-chug mentality when dealing with circuit analysis!! Not to mention the price is right!! You definitely won't be disappointed with this purchase and I can't tell you how priceless a resource this has been for me in my undergraduate career!!!

Data Structures and Algorithms free ebook download

Author(s): Alfred V. Aho
Date: 1983-01-11
Format: PDF
Language: English
ISBN10: 0201000237
Pages: 427
ISBN13: 9780201000238
BOOK DESCRIPTION:

Review
The best introduction to the field - a pleasure to read, Feb 10 2002

By "optimistix" (London, UK):
A textbook by Aho/Hopcroft/Ullman is sort of a guarantee of quality - and this one is no exception. These people are among the greatest researchers and teachers in Computer Science, and this book is a great opportunity to 'learn from the masters'.

As an introduction to the fascinating field of Data Structures and Algorithms, this is perhaps the best textbook you'll find out there. Starting with the basics, the authors develop the concepts in a natural manner. Array, lists and stacks soon give way to binary trees, heaps and then more advanced data structures. All data structures are introduced with proper motivation in terms of the kind of problems that they are useful in solving.

The basic algorithms in searching, sorting, and graphs are then presented in detail, followed by a chapter on algorithm analysis techniques, and one on design paradigms such as dynamic programming, backtracking, divide and conquer, greedy approach, and local search. The book ends with chapters data structures and algorithms for external storage and memory management.

This is a textbook, and therefore you can expect a fair amount of maths in the analysis of algorithms, without which you can only do hand-waving. All algorithms are explained, with detailed examples and illustrations - this is one of the easiest books to follow in theoretical computer science.

All algorithms are presented in pseudocode, which makes it easier to understand things at an abtract level without getting bogged down in language specific technical details, and the pseudocode is very clear and concise, making it an easy task to adapt it to any given language.

An additional plus-point is its size - weighing in at less than 450 pages, this is a 'backpack friendly' book which you can easily carry around, unlike many others on the subject.

The only caveat is that the book is almost 20 years old, so you won't find the more recent topics like red-black trees, skip lists etc.
I'd suggest using this book for an introduction to the basics, with the book by Cormen et al (if you want the maths) or Sedgewick (if you don't want the maths) as excellent supplements as well as advanced references.

I must confess to having a weak spot for this book, since it introduced me to algorithms and i fell in love with the subject. However, i think most people who've read it would agree that it is a classic among Computer Science textbooks which has stood the test of time.

Review:
An okay book!

It is just an okay book, not extraordinary in any way. Especially, this is certainly not for the novice in this topic, i.e., it is certainly not a good introductory book. So if you are new to data structures and algorithms, stay away from this book, go for some good introductory book.

For the advanced readers, it is an okay book. Better books are available, e.g., books by Cormen et al. and Robert Sedgewick.

The book is written in a way not very intersting or engaging. The algorithms are not explained in detail. Often things are left unexplained or assumed that the reader already knows it. Algorithms are presented in pseudocode, which causes problems especially for the readers familiar to some particular programming language.

Review:
Excellent Book

This book explains very clearly the subjects of data structures and algorithms. Its in-depth coverage is very intuitive and easy to follow unlike other literature that is often tedious or esoteric.
The only complaint I have is the choice of the programming language. Pascal is a language of the past. A new edition using C will make this book simply a gem.

Review:
A JEWEL

Perfect book. Nice and small. You can buy it cheap too, it's old. But it's full of the meat and potatoes, no fluffy Java source code. Sure, it uses Pascal, but it's not that hard to understand Pascal code even if you never programmed in Pascal

Microprocessors: From Assembly Language to C Using the PICI8FXX2 (Da Vinci Engineering) free ebook download

Author(s): Robert B. Reese
Date: 2005-08-04
Format: PDF
Language: English
ISBN10: 1584503785
Pages: 664
ISBN13: 9781584503781
BOOK DESCRIPTION:

This book is designed for a first course in microprocessors or it may be used as a reference for practicing engineers. The book is unique in presenting a balanced, integrated topic coverage of assembly language programming, microcontroller programming via the C language, and hardware interfacing. Programming topics are discussed using both assembly language and C, while hardware interfacing examples use C to keep code complexity low and improve clarity. A goal of this book is to prepare students for advanced courses in embedded systems or computer architecture. As such, the topic coverage is wide, with a mixture of software and hardware topics. The assembly language programming topics emphasize the linkage between C language constructs and their assembly language equivalents, so that students clearly understand the impact of C coding choices in terms of execution time and memory requirements. Hardware interface topics included in the textbook cover the fundamentals (parallel, serial, interrupts, A/D, D/A) using devices that do not require an extensive circuits background. Laboratory Projects These provide an extensive off-the-shelf lab experience (13 experiments) for using the PIC18: one experiment on introductory computer architecture topics, four experiments on PIC18 assembly language, and eight hardware experiments. The hardware experiments require the read to breadboard a PIC18F242 system that includes a serial EEPROM, external 8-bit Digital-to-Analog converter, and RS232 interface, and an infrared receiver module. The hardware labs cover all major subsystems on the PIC18: A/D, timers, asynchronous serial interface, and the 12C interface. All hardware labs are programmed in C, using the HI-TECH PICC18 compiler. A supplemental website (www.reesemicro.com) has book C code examples that have been modified to be compatible with both the Microchip MCC18 and HI-TECH PICC18 compilers, as well as lecture notes and sample quizzes.

Mobile Networks free ebook download

Author(s): Jesus Hamilton Ortiz
Publisher: InTeO
Date: 2012
Format: pdf
Language: English
Pages: 183
ISBN13: 9789535105930
BOOK DESCRIPTION:

Mobile networks require that the applications and protocols that have worked successfully in fixed networks can be used with the same level of quality in mobile scenarios. Until the third generation of mobile networks, the need to ensure reliable handovers was still an important issue.

On the eve of a new generation of access networks (4G) and increased connectivity between networks of different characteristics commonly called hybrid (satellite, ad-hoc, sensors, wired, WIMAX, LAN, etc.), it is necessary to transfer mechanisms of mobility to future generations of networks.
In order to achieve this, it is essential to carry out a comprehensive evaluation of the performance of current protocols and the diverse topologies to suit the new mobility conditions.

Alexander the Great: Journey to the End of the Earth free ebook download

Author(s): Norman F. Cantor
Publisher: Harper Perennial
Date: 2007-11-20
Format: EPUB, MOBI
Language: English
ISBN10: 006057013X
Pages: 192
ISBN13: 9780060570132
BOOK DESCRIPTION:

In this succinct portrait of Alexander the Great, distinguished scholar and historian Norman Cantor illuminates the personal life and military conquests of this most legendary of men. Cantor draws from the major writings of Alexander's contemporaries combined with the most recent psychological and cultural studies to show Alexander as he was   a great figure in the ancient world whose puzzling personality greatly fueled his military accomplishments.

He describes Alexander's ambiguous relationship with his father, Philip II of Macedon  his oedipal involvement with his mother, the Albanian princess Olympias  and his bisexuality. He traces Alexander's attempts to bridge the East and West, the Greek and Persian worlds, using Achilles, hero of the Trojan War, as his model. Finally, Cantor explores Alexander's view of himself in relation to the pagan gods of Greece and Egypt.

More than a biography, Norman Cantor's Alexander the Great is a psychological rendering of a man of his time.
